April/May 2016: What I’ve Been Up To

So I haven’t been very good at keeping up with posting on my blog very frequently, but I have been a bit busy lately. I’ve decided after a whole month of not writing a post, (maybe a little more woops) that I’ll put together a quick post about what I’ve been up to.

So, in the past month or two I’ve been to the cinema twice, went to watch the football, moved house again, switched job roles within the company I work for, went to my favourite childhood place and best of all I saw BUSTED live – it’s been a bit busy.

Let’s start with the cinema. A couple of weeks ago I went to see The Jungle Book with my family and it was amazing! The Jungle Book has always been one of my favourite Disney films (I have a few favourites; I might do a Disney themed blog post actually).  One thing that particularly amazed me about the film, apart from it was a very accurate remake from the original, was the fact the actor (Neel Sethi) who played Mowgli was incredibly talented! Bearing in mind he was the only human actor to be shown in the film with all the other characters being animations (meaning he was pretty much acting alone), I thought his performance was outstanding.

The only downside of this film would be the scene with King Louie. This is because in the original Disney film King Louie is portrayed as a carefree, mental monkey that’s jumping around and singing crazy songs. However, in the new Jungle Book, King Louie is presented as a money driven, super evil character. But overall, I did love the film, I think it’s still showing in cinemas so if you haven’t already, I would definitely recommend going to see it!

So what else have I been up to? I went to visit the AMEX football stadium for the first time (Brighton and Hove Albion’s home ground). Me, Mark, my dad and brother started the day with a few drinks in the pub before the game which was nice as I rarely spend a lot of time with my dad and brother. We then made our way to the football stadium and it was then that I started to regret my decision of going to watch the football.

So there I am happily sitting on the train when all these extremely rowdy middle aged men jump on the train. Then the chanting started. Oh god the chanting. Some ‘geezer’ then opened his beer on the ceiling of the train which he then went on to ‘accidentally’ drenched us with half the contents, lovely. To be fair though as the dreaded train journey continued I did begin to see the funny side of these men basically acting like animals.

Once we’d reached the stadium I decided I need a few more beers to be able to make it through the game, so I got myself some drinks. After watching the first half of the game I began to realise that it actually was quite fun and wasn’t half as bad as I thought. The game then resulted in a 1-1 draw, with Brighton scoring in the very last minute which I think made the boys pretty happy, so all in all it was a pretty different but fun day.

So next within my hectic two months or so me and mark decided to move back into my parents house. After a long hard think between the four of us and our previous land lady totally messing us around, we decided to move back home. I feel like this is definitely a very good decision as I’m not going to lie, living in a house share isn’t amazing. As nice as it was to have our own independence and do our own thing it did have its cons as well.

Since moving back home, me and Mark are now both paying less, meaning we can save together. So the plan for our little future is too save for a mortgage together for a flat(scary right?!) So here goes to being poor for the next 2 years or so, but I know it will be 100% worth it and to be honest I’m actually so excited to save up and buy our very own place!

I also mentioned that I visited the cinema again as well as my favourite childhood location. The day that Bad Neighbors 2 came out me and Mark went to see it. After seeing the first film and loving it so much I was so desperate to see the sequel. I thought the film was very good however it wasn’t as funny as the first one but I did still really enjoy it! Plus seeing Zac Efron shirtless isn’t always a sore sight.

As well as this, I also took Mark to my favourite place when I was a child. This place being Stanmer Park. I love this place so much just because it has a massive forest/woods which I love exploring. This place also brings back a lot of happy memories I had with my grandad from when I was a child as he used to take me and my brother there for a picnic and a walk every school holidays. It was definitely a nice day, even if I did discover how unfit I am from all the walking.

So the last two major events to happen in the last 2 months were switching job roles and seeing Busted. During my apprenticeship I work within three different departments, biddable media, inbound marketing and insight and analytics. I am now in my final four months meaning I’m working with insight and analytics.

So far my time in this job role is going well. I have sooo much to learn as I am totally clueless when it comes to numbers, data and analytics, but because it’s all new to me I’m learning loads and it’s keeping me very busy! I’m currently revising for a big Google exam (GAIQ) I need to take before I can perform any client work but so far it’s going really well! All I’m waiting for now is to find out whether or not I’ll be kept on as a permanent employee within the company when my apprenticeship has finished – fingers crossed!

And lastly, the most exciting thing that has happened to me in the last couple of months. I finally saw Busted!!! After 12 whole years of waiting and thinking I’d never ever see them live, I finally saw all three original member performing all my favourite songs. I am 100% aware at how sad I probably sound for getting so over excited about Busted, but in my defence they were my all time favourite childhood band and I still do love them to this day. Also I know every single one of their songs easily off by heart and I just love them. So to finally see them live was a pretty amazing experience for me #no1fangirl.

Overall, I’ve had a pretty busy two months but all exciting at the same time. I am definitely going to try and motivate myself a lot more to start writing more blog posts though because I do enjoy writing them. Do you have any ideas on what I could write about next?
