Christmas gift guide for him -

Christmas Gift Guide for Him

After creating my ‘Christmas gift guide for her’ previously this week, I felt it was only right that I created a ‘Christmas gift guide for him’, because we can’t be leaving the poor men out can we. Also I find buying presents for guys soooo much harder than buying gifts for girls. So if you’re stuck on something to get your boyfriend, brother, dad or mate this Christmas, I hope this gives you a little last minute inspiration!

1. A Grooming Kit

Believe it or not boys like to look pretty too, and a guy can’t keep his face in the condition he desires without a grooming kit/razor. Therefore, a snazzy little grooming kit is a perfect gift idea for a guy or any ages (as long as they have facial hair obvs).

2. A Power Bank

Let’s face it phone batteries are shit and sooo not built to last. Additionally, most boys (from my experience) are soo not practical or prepared, which is why a power bank is a fantastic gift!

3. Headphones

Headphones just keep getting better and better and there are so many different features to pick from wireless, bass booster etc. Plus everyone loves music so this gift is a no brainer.

4. Aftershave

Boys like to smell nice and girls like it when boys smell nice too. My boyfriend Mark wears Versace Eros and it smells amazing, I would seriously recommend it if you’re becoming stuck with what aftershave to get a man in your life.

5. Xbox One S

As we are all probably quite aware, the brand new Xbox One S has recently come out. I know how much boys love their games consoles, playing Fifa and all the crap, so you’d probably be a right winner if you got someone an Xbox.

6. An Experience

Virgin offer some amazing experiences for pretty good prices, from spa days to driving experiences, there’s so much they offer!

7. Alchohol

Alcohol is always a safe bet, unless the person you’re buying a gift for doesn’t drink or is too young. Plus around Christmas time all the festive alcoholic beverages come out at pretty decent prices.

8. Trainers

What boy isn’t in love with trainers? My boyfriend is constantly wanting a new pair of trainers, so this seems like the perfect gift idea – as long as you know which ones they want (boys are fussy too).

9. A Watch

Watches are a perfect accessory for any guy. Additionally, the price range varies from reasonably cheap to pretty pricing, depending on what brand you buy and how much you think of the person you’re buying a gift for ūüėČ

10. Underwear

Lastly, if you’re totally stuck and have no idea what to get him or what he’ll like, play it safe and get him some underwear. Christmas themed socks and pants are always fun!

My Ultimate Three Christmas Movies -

My Ultimate 3 Christmas Movies

There’s nothing I love more than getting cosy, stuffing my face with chocolate and watching Christmas films around this time of year. I have three movies that I 100% have to watch every Christmas, because ya know Christmas isn’t Christmas without a few soppy feel good movies. So here it is, my ultimate three Christmas movies.

1. Love Actually

If you have previously read my blog or you know me at all you’d know that Love Actually is my all time favourite ever movie ever, which means of course it’s made the ultimate list. There isn’t one thing I don’t like about this movies, it just makes me so happy I feel like I want to cry plus the cast in amazing. I actually love this movie – see what I did there (I know I disgust myself).

Love Actually - My Ultimate 3 Christmas Movies -

2. Elf

I have watched Elf every year since I can remember and I think a lot of people can agree with me in saying it’s one of the best and funniest Christmas films to ever exist.¬†Buddy (Will Ferrell) is amazing in this film also how the hell did I only realise that Zooey Deschannel plays Jovie?! I bloody love this film and will never ever get sick of it.

Elf - My Ultimate 3 Christmas Movies -

3. Home Alone

When I was a kid I never actually watched any of the Home Alone films and I have no idea why. Then, one year I decided I really needed to see these films as I really felt I was missing out, so I went out and bought the box set and have never looked back since. Hahaha, but seriously how can you not love Home Alone.

Christmas Gift Guide for her -

Christmas Gift Guide for Her

Christmas is easily one of the best times of the year, the Christmas food, movies, songs and decorations make everyone happy and full of ‘Christmas cheer’, however, Christmas shopping can be a massive ball ache. I for one love getting people gift but the actual process of thinking what to buy them then going out and getting it is my idea of hell.

With that in mind I decided to make a ‘gift guide for her’ (even if it’s a little latter than planned. but hey nothing ever really goes to plan does it). I’ve seen a few of these gift guides floating around the internet and thought they were a really cool idea, plus making the image for this blog was super fun. But anyways, here is my ‘Christmas Gift Guide for Her’, I hope this gives you lot a little inspiration and you never know I might even do one for him before xmas – if I get round to it.

1. Lush bath bombs

Okay so what girl doesn’t love bath bombs? And what girl isn’t obsessed with everything about Lush.¬†Bath bombs from Lush are a fantastic little gift idea as either a stocking filler or you can get a whole gift box as a main present. Lush are amazing at doing seasonal themed smelly stuff including bath bombs, bubble bars, shower gel etc. and anything you buy from there smells simply amazing, so you can’t really go wrong.

2. NYX Matte Lipstick

Make up is always a winner with most girls, but it’s very important you get the right type, colour, brand etc. Lipsticks/glosses are always a safe bet as a girl can never have too many. NYX Matte Lipsticks (Lingerie) are bloody beautiful, come in a range of stunning nude shades and I wish I owned every single one.

3. Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit

Again make up is a winner and this Glow Kit is b-e-a-u-tiful. Ever girl wants to be glowing like a god damn star this Christmas so treat¬†her this Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit and she’ll love you forever. Hahaha, no but seriously this Glow Kit is amazing, Anastasia Beverly Hills offer 5 different Glow Kits which are all stunning¬†and will make your cheek bones pop like they’ve never popped before.

4. Pyjamas and Fluffy Socks

I know this is such a¬†clich√© present but Christmas is made for receiving cringey Christmas sleepwear and super fluffy socks, I’m talking the kinda socks you can easily skid along the floor in. I personally live in fluffy socks all year round as I believe they are the greatest thing to ever exist so I feel this would be 100% a fabulous present.

5. Perfume

Every girl loves to smell great so perfume is without a doubt a fabulous gift idea. I’m¬†currently still so in love with ‘Armani Code Satin’ because it smells beautiful. However, you can get some perfumes pretty cheap, I have an ‘everyday perfume’ from Avon that was about a tenner and it smells fab.

6. A New Handbag

Most girls use a handbag everyday, I know I definitely do and after using the same bag everyday it becomes a bit worn and tired looking. The Tommy Hilfiger bag included in the feature image is currently top of my wish list.

7. A Watch

A watch is always a fantastic accessory to any outfit. I particularly really want a stunning Olivia Burton watch, they’re not too big and in your face and are a pretty good price, however I still haven’t worked out whether or not I want the Rose Gold or Silver – maybe Ill just get both.

8. Moisturiser

No one likes dry skin which is why moisturiser is a very handy gift. One of my favourite brands at the moment, and has been for a while is Soap and Glory.I am in love with their Righteous Butter, it has aloe vera in it and smells bloody amazing.

9. Yankee Candle

Christmas isn’t Christmas without a few festive candles.I always feel that a great way to feel festive and cosy is to light a special little (or big) scented candle and where else better to get your candles from than Yankee.

10. Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Instant Camera (Polaroid Camera)

Lastly, as we all know Polaroid pictures are super cool now and look fabulous on ya old Instagram grid. I’ve has the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Instant Camera for a while now, I just think its so cute and I love the idea of easily having physical photos that you can keep forever in an instant.

The Pros and Cons of an Apprenticeship -

The Pros and Cons of an Apprenticeship

So as some of you may or may not know, last year I did a years apprenticeship at a digital marketing agency in Worthing. If you read one of my previous blog posts¬†about starting a new job, you’d now know that I’m currently a digital marketing assistant, however I am still under going training to achieve a foundation degree in marketing so am yet to be on the wage I want to be.

In this blog post I’m going to speak a little bit about all the pros and cons that come with an apprenticeship in case any of your reading this are considering doing an apprenticeship and are still unsure, just like I was when I was first thinking about committing myself to an apprenticeship. Personally, one of the things I like the most about doing an ¬†apprenticeship is the fact¬†you can actually go out and work in the real world, meet people with the same interests as you and discover what it really is you want to do in life.

When I first left school I was so confused with what I wanted to do with my life, I then decided to go to college (which was probably the biggest waste of time but oh well I learnt from it). Then when I left college I was like ah shit I really need to think about what the fuck I’m gonna do with my life. At the time I was working at Next and one thing I did know is that I really didn’t want to be stuck in retail for the rest of my life. I knew I definitely didn’t wanna go to university and spend the next 3 years of my life sitting in a shitty lecture hall, so I decided to look into apprenticeships and I’m so bloody glad I did as I wouldn’t be doing a fantastic job that I love right now. Anyways, enough of me rambling here are my pros and cons about apprenticeships…

1. You don’t have to pay to do it

Unlike university there are no massive fees and cost behind an apprenticeship as it’s totally funded by the government which is amazing. For me one of the biggest reasons why I didn’t want to go to university was the cost. I didn’t want to finish uni in 3 years time and be left with a massive debt, I understand you only pay back small amounts each month, but it still really didn’t appeal to me. Therefore, the fact I could do an apprenticeship in digital marketing and achieve a foundation degree and learn whilst working and earning money sounded like a total winner to me.

2. You’re earning money and learning at the same time

Apprenticeship pay may not be amazing, depending on the company you work for but at the same time you aren’t pay anything to achieve the qualification plus no money is better than none, right?! Even though the wage isn’t massive, you can definitely still survive on it. Back when I was earning ¬£3 something an hour I actually moved out with my boyfriend and still managed to survive, I may not have had much of a life but I coped just fine.

3. It’s the best way to gain experience

Trying to get a job when you have minimal to no experience is¬†sooo¬† difficult – trust me, I’ve tried. However, when you apply for an apprenticeship¬†you don’t need to have any previous experience in the industry. I personally feel that doing an apprenticeship is the perfect first step into the career that you really want to work in (unless you want to be a doctor or lawyer, then I’d probs stick to going to uni).

4. You don’t need to have amazing grades

All you need when applying for an apprenticeship is 5 GCSE’s, that’s it. You need to have a ‘C’ or above in Maths and English and then 3 other GCSE’s, which is amazing when you’re not massively academic. One of the things I love best about doing an Apprenticeship is the fact there isn’t a¬†big exam at the end¬†and you don’t have to spend everyday sitting in a classroom.

1. The pay isn’t great

So as I previously stated, you don’t get a pretty wage falling into your bank every month. But to me that didn’t matter. The way I look at it you have all your life to work your way up the ladder in the specific career route you wanna go down so why worry about earning loads when you’re 18 anyways? When I first started my apprenticeship all my friend were starting uni or college course so we were all just as skint as each other. I mean your teenage years wouldn’t be the same if you weren’t skint 24/7, am I right??

2. There quite a bit of work

Because obviously you’re working full time and trying to achieve a diploma or foundation degree in a specific field, such as marketing, it can be really god damn difficult to find enough time in the week to get everything done. Sometimes it can be really really stressful when you have deadlines at both college and work but I promise it’s worth it in the end. I’m not always the best person at dealing with things when under pressure, I often get pretty stressed and panicky, but once you’ve seen that you’ve achieved something at work or finished your qualification with a distinction is so bloody worth it and the feeling of being proud of yourself is one of the best feelings there is.

3. People don’t realise how much work you actually do

Oh my god, this is the bane of my life. The amount of times I’ve told people I’m an apprentice and they’ve turned round to me and said ‘oh so you like just make tea and clean the office then?’ ahhhhhh. No. Maybe that’s what apprentices for hairdressers and builders did in the bloody 80’s but not anymore. It really winds me up that people think that just because you’re an apprentice you don’t do any work because it’s so far from the truth. But hey, fuck what people think because at the end of the day you’re the one getting the fantastic qualification and will end up in a super fancy job earning a pretty decent wage.

So to anyone thinking about doing an apprenticeship, I really would recommend it. Doing an apprenticeship has honestly changed my life, it’s made me realise what I actually want to do with my life as well as giving me professional and personal life skills. Being essentially paid to learn and do an apprenticeship is such a fantastic opportunity and anyone to turn it down is mad. If any of youe have done an apprenticeship please let me know your thoughts on it!

My Top 10 All Time Favourite Movies

I bloody love watching movies, especially cheesy chick flicks that are totally cringey but most girls can 100% relate to. I think the reason why I love rom-coms and chick flicks so much now is because I hardly ever used to watched them. When I was younger I’d always watch movies with my dad and brother, these movies mainly consisted of Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Rocky, so it’s about time I enjoyed some girly films.

Going to the cinema or spending the¬†evening in watching a movie is easily my favourite thing to do ever.¬†I love rewatching my fav movies, or keeping up to date with all the lastest films that come out in the cinema.¬†As a result, I thought I’d make a little list of my all time favourite movies, enjoy!

1. Love Actually

Love Actually is without a doubt my favourite movie ever. I don’t just watch this movie at Christmas, I watch it all year round, and whever I can. I first discovered this film about 3 years ago, it was Christmas time and I think I watched it about 7 times just over Christmas alone. Love Actually is one of those movies that I could never get sick of and makes me cry like a little baby every time I watch it. It’s easily one of the cutest movies I have ever watched and to anyone that hasn’t watched it – WHY?! Go watch it now and thank me later.

Love Actually

2. Bridget Jones Diary

Bridget Jones is amazing. One of the main reasons I love this film so much is because it’s so realistic and as I’ve become older I found it more and more funnier and relatable. I love Bridget Jones because she doesn’t live this perfect life where everything goes right for her, in fact it couldn’t be more of the opposite. I recently saw the latest (and probably the last *sob*) Bridget Jones’s Baby and it definitely met all expectations and did no disappoint. I will forever love Bridget Jones.

Bridget Jones Diary

3. Mean Girls

Okay so what girl who was born in the 90’s doesn’t love Mean Girls? I’m sorry but Mean Girls is one of the best chick flicks (apart from Clueless) to ever be made, ever. I love Mean Girls because it’s such an easy watch, the quotes throughout the movie are ‘so fetch’ and I just feel it’s such an iconic movie for all girls who are around my age. I¬†love it so much plus Lindsay Lohan was an absolute babe back in the day.

Mean Girls

4. White Chicks

White Chicks is probably my favourite comedy film out there. I love it because the story line is so different and ridiculous compared to any other film I’ve seen.¬†Marlon Wayans and¬†Shawn Wayans play the two girls so so well and every time I watch this movie I always cry with laughter – I’d definitely watch¬†this film when I need a good cheering up.

5. The Wolf of Wall Street

Leonardo DiCaprio, and that is all. Okay so aside from the fact that Leo is an absolute babe and I think that I’m in love with him, (sorry Mark) this film is amazing. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you would have seen that one of my first ever blog posts was actually a review on The Wolf of Wall Street.¬†I really do love this film, I think the¬†story line and the humour behind it is brilliant, and I’ve easily watched it¬†many many times.

6. Meet the Fockers

Okay so every time I tell someone my Christmas tradition they think I’m a fucking werido.¬†But basically, every single Christmas Eve since I can remember I have always watched Meet the Fockers with my family. I have no idea why this is a tradition of mine but it just is, I have even made Mark watch it with me every Christmas Eve as well. I feel that when I watch Meet the Fockers on Christmas Eve night, it really starts to feel like Christmas – I swear I’m not crazy. One of the other main reason why I love this film so much is because I used to be a massive fan of Ben Stiller and I do like his movies, I’m just not as much of a fan as I used to be.

Meet the Fockers

7. Wayne’s World

Party time, excellent! I purely love this film because of how stupid it is and I literally can’t help myself but quote it all the way through. I bloody love Garth and the film just has me in pieces all the ¬†way through.¬†I remember when me and Mark first started seeing each other, I made him watch Wayne’s World with me and when it finished he just looked at me and said ‘what the fuck was that, how do you love this film so much?’ It was then that a small part of me died inside and I knew he wasn’t the one. Hahaha okay that was a bit of an exaggeration, I don’t hate Mark because he doesn’t like this film, but I just really love Wayne’s World. Also the scene with them all in the car with Bohemian Rhapsody on – amazing.

Wayne's World

8. The Great Gatsby

I honestly just think this film is so beautiful. The story line behind The Great Gatsby is amazing, the music throughout the film is amazing and again Leo is amazing. Just thinking about watching this film is making me emosh because I love it so much. I think the whole film is so magical and ahh I love it.

The Great Gatsby

9. Clueless

Clueless is basically just Mean Girls with a fuck load of 90’s fashion thrown in there. I love Clueless because it’s just another fabulous crappy chick flick that I can watch again and again and again. Plus I love all the outfits the girls wear, especially Alicia Silverstone, I mean she is just flawless.

10. Step Brothers

Step Brothers is one of my favourite movies purely because of just how stupid and ridiculously hilarious it is. Additionally, I’m pretty sure¬†Will Ferrell and¬†John C. Reilly were born to act together because they’re such a brilliant double act. The sleepwalking scenes in this movie involving both ¬†Brennan and Dale¬†will also make me crack up. Again if you haven’t seen this film – where have you been all your life?

8 Things You Should Never Do, but Are Probably Guilty Of

I was finding it very difficult to come up with a blog post idea this week, so I thought I’d create¬†a list of stupid (definitely not serious) things I don’t think anyone should ever do, ever. However, chances are you are all probably very guilty of doing – I know I certainly am. Also the feature image has nothing to do with this post, but hey I was struggling this week.

1. Accidentally fall into a Sims binge and loose WEEKS of your life

Sims is bad. Okay so that may have been the biggest lie I’ve ever told. I bloody love Sims, but like most people I binge play it everyday for about two weeks, then don’t play it again for months. Sims is amazing but getting stuck in a Sims binge is not.

2. Bleach your hair too many times

I am so so so guilty of this. About 2 years ago I had bleach blonde hair – we’re talking Barbie blonde. I was so obsessed with having white hair that I didn’t realised how dead and straw like my hair had become. I would really not recommend bleaching your hair loads because you’ll end up having to cut it all off. However, if you do want super blonde hair I’d defo recommend getting it done professionally. Here is picture evidence of me being very very blonde, not the most flattering photo, but oh my god look at those brows, what was I thinking?!

bleach blonde hair

3. Putting the milk in first when making tea

If you read my post ‘10 Things That Should Be Banned‘ you’ll understand my hate for people putting milk in their tea first. Coffee is absolutely fine but tea, no. It’s just so wrong and that’s all I have to say on the matter. I’m definitely not guilty of this one.

4. Spend most of your money within two days of getting paid

Again I’m 100% guilty of this one. Getting paid is a very exciting time for us all, especially if you’re super skint a couple days leading up to it. However, spending all you pay on clothes, alcohol or whatever else within the first couple days is really not a wise choice – trust me.

5. Pressing snooze on your alarm more than once

So guilty. I set an alarm at 7:15am and don’t even think about getting up till about 7:45am. I am the worse person for snoozing my alarm and I’m pretty sure it drives my boyfriend crazy but I can’t help it, I’m a snoozer. Maybe I’ll break out of my snoozing habit one day… maybe.

6. Put the toilet roll on backwards

This is literally my biggest pet hate. I can’t stand it when people put the toilet roll on the holder backwards, it’s so wrong and awkward – why why why do people do it. For anyone that doesn’t know what backwards is, once again here’s photo evidence.

7. Leave all your work till the last possible minute

Back when I was at college I was sooo guilty of doing this with¬†nearly every single¬†project I had. I’d constantly think ‘ahh I’ve got a week to do this project I can definitely spend the whole day playing Sims and watching Netflix’. Then before I knew it, it was the night before the project was due and I’d be sitting in my room stressing out, drinking multiple energy drinks and trying to do all my course work in a couple hours. I would definitely NOT recommend anyone doing this. You feel so much better if you get all your work done as early as possible, as this way you don’t feel super guilty for binge watching too much Orange Is the New Black. I’ve 100% learnt from my mistakes.

8. Squeezing your spots

I know you’ve all done it and I definitely have wayyy too many times, but it’s literally the worst thing to do. Squeezing your spots means you’re left with horrendous scars and it also makes your spots look ten times worse – don’t do it, ever!

Hope you enjoyed reading my list of things no one should ever do!¬†Please leave me a comment and let me know if you’re guilty of any of these, thanks for reading!

12 Things I Love About Autumn/Winter

12 Things I Love About Autumn/Winter

So I’ve finally accepted that we’re now in full-blown autumn. I’m a pretty big fan of the summer, I love sun bathing, being tanning and chilled summer evenings. However, autumn is my very close second favourite season. Lately I’ve been seeing loads of¬†autumnal themed images on Twitter and Instagram and many lists of people’s favourite things about autumn.

After seeing¬†all these autumn themed shenanigans over the past couple of weeks,¬†I’ve been thinking about all my favourite things related to¬†the colder months. As a result I’ve¬†managed to come up with quite a list! I’d love to know if you guys agree with my fav things about autumn/winter, so as always leave me a comment and let me know!

1. Knitted jumpers and hoodies

I loooove knitted jumpers and hoodies, mainly because they make your outfit sooo easy, all you need is a pair of jeans and shoes to complete your look. I also love how cosy jumpers are and the fact that you can be wearing the most gross boring top underneath and no one will ever know!

2. Fluffy socks

Not going to lie, I wear fluffy socks all year round, I love them. I always wear fluffy socks around the house, whatever time or day it is. Fluffy socks are one of the best and most comfortable inventions ever created and I buy at least two new pairs every year without fail.

3. Crunchy leaves

My mum recently told me that I’ve loved ‘crunchy leaves’ ever since I was really young. I used to always walk through every heap of leaves I could find, just so I could hear them crunch beneath my feet, and I still love the sound to this day. I also love the colour of all the leaves on the trees in the autumn, the orange, yellows and browns paint such a beautiful picture and always look fab on your insta feed.

4. Being cosy

I hate being cold, but one thing I do love is coming home from freezing my butt off, getting all comfy and cosy, then jumping into bed. Being cosy and snuggled up in bed, when its super cold outside is one of my favourite feelings, especially if I have a special scented candle burning.

5. Hot drinks

If is me or do hot drinks taste so much better when it’s cold outside?! Also, we all know that Starbucks and Costa bring out their most amazing hot beverages in the autumn/winter. Shout out to pumpkin spice latte and gingerbread latte – I love lattes.

6. Candles

I love candles and I love the smell of Christmas. Candles create such a warm and cosy atmosphere and who doesn’t love the sweet smell of cinnamon and gingerbread? I definitely need to get some fancy Yankee candles this year *adds to very long wishlist*.

7. Boots, boots and more boots

Boots are my absolute favourite footwear. I generally prefer ankle boots as I don’t really feel I’m a over-the-knee kinda gal. But any pair of boots always look fab with any outfit and come in so many different styles, I love it. Boots aren’t always the most comfortable thing to begin with, but once you’ve worn them in a little, they’re your best pal.

I practically lived in my Timberland’s last year, as they keep your feet super toasty and are the most comfortable thing in the world. I have seen some really nice ankle boots in New Look and Primark already this year so I’ll be sure to get my hands on those beauties.

8. Movie nights

I love movie nights all year round but there is just something different about chilling indoors watching movies¬†in the autumn/winter – I think it’s not having that guilt of knowing you should probably be out getting pissed on a beautiful summer evening, like everyone else your age,¬†rather than sitting in again like a middle-aged woman (no shame at all).

9. Long baths

I’m more of a shower gal than I am a bath gal, but I loooove having a long soak in the bath on a Sunday afternoon once the colder months approach. Bathing in the summer is a big no-no from me as it’s just to god damn hot. However, when it’s shitty cold weather outside and I have a special something from Lush and a good book or magazine – oh my god, heaven.

10. TV shows

Okay is it just me or do ALL the good TV shows come out when autumn starts?! I don’t know about anyone else but I am so god damn excited for The Walking Dead to start again tonight, it feels like I’ve been waiting forever to find out what happens! But seriously, whether you watch The Walking Dead or not, sooo many good TV shows start-up again when autumn/winter starts, it’s fab if you’re like me and you love binge watching TV – ¬†lol that rhymed.

11. Pyjama days

Pyjama days aren’t just something I love during the autumn and winter, they’re something I love all year round and most Sundays – no shame what so ever, they’re without fail the best days. I’m not a lazy slob – I promise.

12. Pretty sunsets

Again, I don’t know if this is just me but the sky seems to get so much prettier at sunset during the colder months, or am I going mad? I absolutely adore a good sunset, I mean who doesn’t? The sky just looks so beautiful when it’s lit up with bright colours of pinks and oranges, ahh I love it.
